The past few years Halloween has been preceded by a crippling Fall storm, Last October 31st after over a foot of snow, trees blocking our road & driveway, a power outage of 12 days, My neighbors arrived at our door with their 3 children in costumes chiming...Trick or Treat! I had nothing to offer them but a Chocolate Chip cookie. In the midst of all the disruption of the storm I had completely forgotten it was even Halloween! Most Halloweens my house is spooked from top to bottom, & usually greet trick-or-treaters with my customary witches hat, & large bowl filled with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Jolly Ranchers & assorted candies.
My children are past the days of weeks of anticipation
of choosing what costume they should wear,
How much candy will fill there pillow case,
Which houses to hit first on their quest for the best candy!
In the aftermath of Sandy don't forget
All the toddlers to teens that have been
Eagerly anticipating their night to dress in costume,
Race to the the next door,
Yell Trick or Treat!
Collect & count & sort their treats!
Happy Halloween!
